Le jeu multi-support le plus vendu est GTA IV qui s'est écoulé à plus de 9 millions d'exemplaires versions PS3 et Xbox 360 cumulées.

Le jeu exclusif à une seule console le plus vendu dans le monde en 2008 est Wii Fit sur Wii. Le 30 septembre 2008 8,7 millions d'unités s'étaient écoulées dans le monde.

• 28 juin : Blizzard Entertainment annonce Diablo III lors du Worldwide Invitational à Paris.
• 14 juillet : Square Enix annonce l'adaptation sur Xbox 360 de Final Fantasy XIII au cours de l'E3. La licence Final Fantasy était resté jusqu'à présent l'une des exclusivités majeures de Sony (au même titre que Metal Gear ou Gran Turismo).
• 20 août : Sony Computer Entertainment dévoile un nouveau modèle de PlayStation Portable, baptisé PlayStation Portable 3000, lors de la GC^[1].
• 2 octobre: Nintendo lève le voile sur sa nouvelle console portable, la DSi^[2].

• 11 avril : sortie de Mario Kart Wii.
• 25 avril : sortie de Wii Fit sur Wii en Europe. Le 30 octobre 8,7 millions de Wii Fit s'étaient vendus dans le monde.
• 29 avril : sortie de Grand Theft Auto IV sur PlayStation 3 et Xbox 360. 6 millions d'exemplaires sont vendus dans le monde la première semaine, et 8,5 millions le premier mois^[3].
• 12 juin : sortie de Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots sur PlayStation 3.Le 26 juin, un million d'exemplaire s'étaient écoulés en Europe.
• 27 juin : sortie de Super Smash Bros. Brawl en Europe^[4].
• 1^er novembre : sortie de la DSi au Japon. Le 3 novembre, Nintendo fait état de près de 170 000 exemplaires déjà vendus dans l'archipel nippon^[5].
